Keswick

Keswick in Lake District, UK - A beautiful district of lakes. I visited this place in December. This is my favourite picture. The town is recorded in the 13th century as Cese-wic, indicating that it acted as a market for cheese. During the 16th century, small scale mining took place here, and it was the source of the world's first graphite pencils. The pencil industry remains today, including the Cumberland Pencil Museum. Keswick was the first place in Great Britain where police used riot gear. The equipment was on trial in Manchester when there was a disturbance on the council estate in Keswick, in which a police car was turned over. Help was summoned, and the Manchester police force arrived in full riot gear, thus giving Keswick this footnote in police history.

Loch

Beautiful but unfortunately highly commercialised loch in Scotland. It is the largest fresh water body in UK. I managed to find a couple of spots which were not yet contaminated by human interference. It is approximately 37 kilometres long, and up to 8 kilometres wide, with an average depth of about 37 metres, and a maximum depth of about 190 metres. It has a surface area of approximately 71 square kilometres, and a volume of about 2.6 km. Its surface area is the largest of the lochs, and is second biggest after Loch Ness in terms of water volume in Great Britain, although it is not the largest in the British Isles - this distinction belongs to Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland.

First Post

Hi all,

After all I also joined the army of people having a blog. Basically I was looking for a script for an image gallery to host my hobby of photography and this is where I ended. I hope I can keep this blog as active as my hobby for photography.

I am using a olympus mju 300 digital camera currently. I am seriously considering for an upgrade to a digital SLR soon.

Please feel free to leave any comments on this blog.
